摘要:Macrorealism,as defined by Leggett and Garg, posits that a macroscopic system always existsin a well-defined state and that it can be measured without disturbing it. Fromthese assumptions follow a set of inequalities, the Leggett-Garg inequalities,which hold under macrorealism but can be violated by quantum mechanics. Thedegree to which quantum systems can violate these inequalities is bounded and,in particular, if the measurements on the system are genuinely dichotomic, thebound for these temporal inequalities is the same as the Tsirelson bound of thecorresponding spatial Bell inequality. We realise a photonic Leggett-Garg teston a three-level system and implement measurements that admit three distinctmeasurement outcomes, rather than the usual two. In this way we obtainviolations of a Leggett-Garg inequality significantly in excess of theTsirelson bound. This underlines the difference between Bell and Leggett-Garginequalities and hence spatial and temporal correlations in quantum mechanics.We also report violations of a second consequence of macrorealism, thequantum-witness equality, up to the maximum permitted for a three-outcomemeasurement.
报告人简介:薛鹏,东南大学物太阳集团tyc5997教授,博导。1999年于中国科学技术大学理系毕业,获得学士学位,后进入本校中科院量子信息重点实验室攻读博士学位,师从郭光灿院士,2004年7月获得博士学位。之后赴奥地利因斯布鲁克大学物理系、奥地利科学院量子光学和量子信息研究所,以及加拿大卡尔加里大学物理系作为博士后从事量子信息的物理实现以及量子光学的基础研究工作,致力于利用量子行走实现量子信息处理平台的研究工作。
